MURDERGAME PROMPTS
a.
[So. Needless to say, this is probably the weirdest place that Carmelita has woken up in a while; no windows, no sort of escape, no god hanging out in a cavity on her chest, but hey! That's probably the nicest bed she's woken up in like, all of her 27 years of living. The positives are definitely outweighing the negatives as she sees it. Even as she walks around the building and looks around at the other people who have been pretty clearly kidnapped, Carmelita honestly looks utterly at ease, hands on the back of her head as she walks around and stretches. To her, there's no need to worry, it seems.
Of course, Carmelita is absolutely going to nose around the place; the rules get a bit of laughter from her, and even the uttering of "oh, that's cute" before her eyes dart over to the profiles, reading them over and seeming entirely unperturbed. Sure, the information on her own profile is spot on, but she wouldn't really expect much less.
Name: Carmelita Ragusa
Age: 27
Height: 5'6'' | 167 cm
Weight: 130 lbs | 59 kgs
Occupation: Vagabond | Part-time guild worker
Likes: Personal freedom, traveling, talkative people, new experiences, music, fighting, stupid nicknames.
Dislikes: Islands in the sky, being trapped, being reminded of home, authority, worries, inadequacy, silence.
Trivia: Carmelita has been traveling the world since the age of fifteen.]
...Wooow, they sure know a hell of a lot, don't they?
[Not that it sounds like it's causing any problems for her. Carmelita will look over to anyone nearby, grinning easily as she looks towards the person in question.]
Hey, you! What do you make of all this shit?
[...She may look well dressed but holy shit, she's got all of the tact and grace of a barn animal. But she is looking expectantly for some kind of answer.]
b1.
[It isn't very long until someone dies in this game; a week at most, and Carmelita just seems about the same as usual by the time the trial and subsequent execution roll around. If nothing else, Carmelita presents any evidence she's found with her usual blunt vigor, and she at least does her part to help; she'd rather not die, after all. Though if there was any squabbling going on, you better believe that Carmelita was egging them on and looking absolutely entertained in the process.
It's after everything, after some sort of assumed invitation gets...promptly crumbled up and tossed elsewhere that Carmelita's out and about; there's no smile on her face as she wanders about, humming a small tune to herself, avoiding the afterparty at all cost and just wanting to go anywhere but the most morose place in the facility. If she happens upon you, though, she'll at least hold a hand out in greeting.]
Oh, hey! I take it you couldn't stand the misery party either, yeah?
[...No one said she wasn't gonna be blunt about it.]
b2.
[Of course, she will eventually just go to the party; it's pretty much solely for the free food provided, but Carmelita looks around the room at anyone still here just...very neutrally, almost borderline kind of unsure about anything going on here. Once she's got her plate piled, though, she...walks over to what's assumedly a vigil; two candles lit in the name of the people they lost today. It's...confusing, really, it's really damn confusing, and honestly as Carmelita's brow furrows a bit.]
...What the actual fuck is this supposed to do...? Or even accomplish?
[It's quieter than her usual brash and brazen tone, but she...honestly looks kind of confused and almost frustrated by it, really.]
c.
[A new area has opened up, and needless to say, Carmelita has an unholy fuckton of energy about her as she explores the new area that opened up. The dojo and gym are extremely nice, and so's the arts and craft room, even if it isn't for Carmelita; it's something else, though, that sees Carmelita buzzing around today like a bee on a fucking mission as she goes to track somebody else down--]
Oh, hey, you!
[Uh-oh. Carmelita is going to be going towards you, no matter where you are or what you're doing with a grin that's pleased as all hell--]
Just the person I wanted to see! Look, I'll cut to the chase; I found some really cool shit in one of the new rooms, and I want a second pair of eyes on this shit. Mind coming with?
[At least she's not making to grab the other person's arm. Yet. But her eyes are practically sparkling and clearly it's time for a misadventure. Are you in???]
JAMJAR/NETWORK PROMPTS
a.
[There's a text post on the network today coming from Carmelita; she uses it semi often for just chatting with others and/or shitposting around the network, but this one actually seems a little serious. Or well, at least enough to not be a rampant shitpost.]
so hey. we all come from different sorts of places, yeah? and we likely know our own worlds like the back of our damn hands. i mean, i do at least, i don't know about any of the rest of you, but it's made me curious.
tell me about the coolest place you've seen from where you come from. to you. don't give a shit about how weird or silly it might sound, i totally want to hear about it either way.
[That's. Actually perhaps surprisingly innocently asked. Huh.]
b.
[Carmelita's usually out and about around jamjar city; she's never one for sitting still or keeping to one place for long, but there is one constant place she goes to often that one can find her; a small hole in the wall bar in an alleyway somewhere, a nice little private place where some of the town's people can unwind after long days of work and dealing with humdrum life. Carmelita's a regular here; she doesn't drink very much, but she can usually be found with a plate of food and watching the people here talk about their days and shit.
She usually just sits by herself, though, but it looks like she's brought a few books from the town's library with her today to occupy her time a bit. Feel free to bother her, if you want; she's seated over by one of the tables toward the middle of the place, and she's never one to mind company.]
WILDCARD
[Wanna do something that isn't one of the prompts? No problem! Feel free to bring your own ideas to me on plurk, and we'll see what we can do! My only request is no NSFW on this post; I'm not even sure I'd like to do NSFW with Carmelita quite yet until I've got her solidified. But, I can offer some alternate things (since I didn't wanna do too many prompts and also I'm running out of steam, whoops);
1. Assumed CR is fine! Carmelita is, if nothing else, good as a casual sort of friend who occasionally likes to spar if desired, though she is a bit...odd and sucks at basic empathy. Seriously, empathy is going to get a very "...what the fuck do you want me to do about it" reaction, if it...wasn't obvious...but let's discuss it if you wanna go for assumed CR!
1a. Also small sidebar: Carmelita calls literally nobody by their given name. She also insists on being called Lita, for short. Carmelita is absolutely gonna come up with some dumb nickname for your character and I apologize in advance.
2. Backstory things! So I haven't settled out Carmelita's entire backstory, though she's. Definitely got some fuckery going on; the basic facts I've settled on is that she was born between the union of an outsider and a resident of the private sky island society that she was born into, and thus, was shunned super hard throughout all her life and didn't...really get to go outside until she was 15. Which was the result of meeting a sealed up god as a 10 year old and said god and she deciding to blow this joint, which resulted in the island crashing down and Carmelita only surviving due to the god protecting her. Everyone else died. Not that Carmelita cared. That's kind of a thing. But yeah, if you wanna do anything with this for whatever reason, let me know.
2a. ...though I will say that anything morality related is uh. Gonna be an uphill battle because Carmelita literally doesn't care. She's not one to think too deeply about this. Do this at your own risk, basically, because the thread might not go too far if she has no reason to listen to said character.
3. For Jamjar prompts in particular! Carmelita is probably someone who doesn't have a home of her own, or insists on not living in one because she's used to the vagabond life. Thus, she's absolutely here to take on odd jobs, including unsavory ones (ie. murder, intimidation, etc), for temporary shelter or food. I couldn't really think of a good prompt to incorporate this, but if you wanna do something with this, lemme know!
4. Also for Jamjar prompts! So optionally, powers can be on for these prompts, and I can incorporate the god hanging out in her chest cavity into threads if wanted. Fomalhaut is someone who stays silent unless addressed usually, or if a battle starts because he works alongside her. He's honestly just a mass of galaxy goop, though he occasionally takes the form of a spear or gauntlets depending on how Carmelita wants to fight. But yeah! I haven't headcanoned him out a lot but I figure if anyone wants to do something with that, I'll offer, just lemme know!]

Though if he's perfectly honest with himself, maybe being forcibly dragged away from his work isn't really such a bad thing.
And then things get a lot worse as he glances over the profiles and reads the rules. If there was even a moment of hope that he could escape all of that responsibility and utter nonsense he's been dealing with for the past gods-know-how-long, it's completely crushed now. Nothing new there, really.
If Carmelita is interested, Audrius matches the picture on his profile pretty well, although he's dressed down compared to that one. In that one he at least somewhat looks like he might be a monarch, but here he's just wearing a dark purple shirt that's got several buttons undone and dark riding pants tucked into boots. His profile isn't exactly a glowing review of him either:
Name: Audrius Vel Ferant
Age: 31
Height: 5'8" | 172 cm
Weight: 145 lbs | 66 kgs
Occupation: King of Marh
Likes: Learning, magic, romance novels, nostalgia, being right, power.
Dislikes: Being controlled, being in control, being overshadowed, being forgotten, inadequacy, death.
Trivia: Audrius is more often known by his many titles than he is by name.
Audrius is frowning at the profiles as Carmelita speaks up, though he doesn't seem to be focused on his own. He does glance at her, hesitating for a moment before speaking.]
Some of this information seems impossible for them to have. There are things listed that I have never spoken of with anyone.
[Well, anyone besides Klys, but that's a whole complicated situation that he really doesn't want to think about right now.
Despite that, he sounds calm and composed, though his expression is a bit more openly worried than his words.]
no subject
Not that Carmelita cares either way, promptly shrugging her shoulders and placing her hands on the back of her head.]
Yeah, same for me too. I mean, I'm pretty open about most of this shit with the people I visit in towns, but some of it's just way personal, you know? Kiiind of suspect if you ask me.
[...]
So, what's the supposed-to-be-hidden info here, Specs? The weird-ass dislike pile over there, or your love of romance novels?
[Oh dear gods. It's only slightly teasing, but man, dude, you could stand to unwind a bit. Carmelita's as casual as ever even as she says it, though a bit of a more explicit smile creeps it's way onto her face.]
no subject
[—don't answer that, dear gods he can still hear his brother teasing him about it.]
Aren't you worried about this? This whole situation is an odd one, and yet you seem perfectly at ease with it.
no subject
[Too bad, she's answering anyway!! Of course, the question gets Carmelita to tilt her head a bit.]
Why would I worry? Sure, we're kind of in a shithole, I guess. But it just seems like a lot of wasted energy to start worrying your little head off when we know jack shit.
[She shrugs, though.]
Besides, people might be practically climbing on the walls here, but nobody's dead, at least. That's gotta count for something, yeah?
no subject
I suppose it does. Though I do have to wonder how many have even bothered reading the rules yet...
[Most people aren't going to take waking up in an unfamiliar location well at all, much less once everyone's aware of what exactly the stakes are.]
Well, it is good that someone can keep a level head here.
[...Okay, that's the nicest way of putting it, but honestly it's a little weird just how chill Carmelita is...]
no subject
[Still, Carmelita grins at that; it's a compliment in her eyes, as far as she's concerned, though it gets a bit of a laugh from her. Level-headed, her??? Oh, honey.]
There's just no need to worry unless shit gets real, that's all. Besides, this place is way cushier than a lot of the places I've been to.
[Still, Carmelita gestures with her head a bit, towards a hallway that some people are coming and going from.]
Come on, Specs, let's take a look around. Stay here any longer with all that worry and you're probably gonna sprout more gray hairs, you know?
[...It does not sound like she's giving him an option, are you ready to explore or what Audrius--]
no subject
[Being dragged around by Carmelita isn't the worst possible fate, so you know what, that's fine. It means he doesn't have to take charge and that's fantastic!! He's just going to... ignore about 50% of what she said, why are you like this...]

murdergame - c
He sure is an experience, in other words.
That said, he's in the dining hall, sifting through a pile of junk from the vending machine when Carmelita finds him. He looks entirely bored with his spoils, so he's glad for a distraction.]
Define "really cool shit". I want this to be worth getting up for.
[He's bored, sure, but like...he still has standards.]
no subject
Still, Carmelita grins a bit at that much.]
I found some sort of little room in the craft room closet; wasn't too big, but it had a bunch of weird...maybe magic symbols and lines and shit on the walls; waaay too smart-looking for me to try to decipher. It looked like there was notebooks and other shit in the cupboards in there, but I figured I'd come out and get a second pair of eyes before going too much deeper, you know?
[Still, Carmelita looks to the pile on the table there.]
It's bound to be way more interesting than sorting through all of that, at least! And if it isn't, well, I'll owe you a favor or something?
no subject
Well, whatever. No point in internally theorizing about it when he hasn't even seen it yet.]
In that case, you've come to the right smart person! Monsters are my expertise, but I know a thing or two-hundred about magic.
[He pulls a notepad out of his robe and leaves a "free junk" note with the pile before pushing himself out of his chair and stepping away from the table.]
Lead the way!
no subject
Knew I could count on you, Sky! [...As tempting as it has been to call him 'Purge' instead after the trial, Sky is far easier to remember since he wears light blue, so--] Come on, let's get this show on the road, then!
[And lead the way she shall! At an ever lackidaisy pace and humming, as she does, but it won't take them long to get there and not much longer for Carmelita to open the closet door of the arts and crafts room. It does look like a bit of a mess was left in the closet, what with a few candles and a matchbook in there that were probably brought in, but sure enough, there's a door that was probably hidden behind the mess that Carmelita is crouching down to open.]
Just gotta get the latch, and...there we go!
[Carmelita will step back to open the door up, and gesture with her head.]
Come on, let's go! Oh, uh, and bring a candle, it's dark as shit in here.
[The room itself once you crawl inside isn't exactly big; honestly, it looks like it could hold a few people in here at max. But it's surprisingly well maintained, lacking dust on any visible surface. There's a small cupboard in there, opened a bit so the contents can be visible; a few worn notebooks. And there's also a desk, that seems cleared of all contents on the top, but seems to have something weird on it...
And Carmelita certainly wasn't lying about the magic-like symbols on the walls; there's a few fully intact, but there's a lot more that just seem to have been stopped halfway.
At any rate, once Carmelita gets her own candle lit--]
Where do you wanna start? I can take one end while you take another.
no subject
He's definitely surprised to see that little door hidden in the closet. He wouldn't have even thought to look back there—the only things he came in for were notebooks and pens—but he's glad someone did. Candle in hand, he scrambles in after her.]
Huh. Would you look at that... [He mutters aloud after he lights his candle and gets a good look at the room.] This is so weird. It's like someone was using this place up until we came along.
[Weirdness aside, he definitely likes what he sees. Finally, something interesting! He turns his attention to the walls with the strange symbols, holding the candle up so he can get a better look.]
I might as well start here with the symbols, right? That's what you called me in for, anyway. I'll check these notebooks for a key.
[So the cupboard for Will, and the desk for Carmelita! What do we have going on here?]
no subject
[To the desk Carmelita goes, then! And for you, there's three notebooks up in the cupboard for your perusal; one that's exceedingly worn, while the other two appear to be much newer in appearance.
Of course, there's also a book or two in here as well for your perusal in the other part of the cupboard; they don't look like light reading in the slightest, and they seem to be focused on the subject of transportation magic.
You will find a key in the oldest notebook, though, for some of the magic symbols on the walls; the spells inside all seem to be similar enough, and weirdly enough, one of the completed circles on the walls happens to match with a spell that can be used to transport a person to another place where the sigil has been drawn.
A portal, in other words.]

Still, she's not happy to be here. She's got a job to do, damn it, and she can't do it here. She's also not liking the look of those rules.]
Mostly that this seems like several kinds of bullshit. I don't like it.
[If Carmelita's looking at the girl's profile...
Name: Aderyn Lloyd
Age: 20
Height: 5'5" | 165 cm
Weight: 126 lbs | 57 kg
Occupation: Medic
Likes: Ships, traveling, the ocean, birds, spicy food, fire, her crew, stargazing, nighttime, reading, learning new things, cooperative patients
Dislikes: Confinement, incompetence, royalty, insects; problems she can't solve with medical knowledge, stabbing, or the application of fire
Trivia: Aderyn once set fire to part of a royal palace to cover an escape.]
Not sure how they learned some of this, either.
no subject
Yeah, this is some Grade A fuckery right here. Kinda gotta wonder just what kind of sick asshole puts this kind of shit together.
[Carmelita shrugs, though, before looking to Aderyn with a bit of a grin.]
Heh. Take it you'd never want anyone knowing about that firebug habit if you could help it, Medi? [Ah, starting with this already--] Can't say I blame you, but if we are gonna be working to get the fuck out of here, it's good to have someone who knows plenty of "fun" applications to our current set of problems.
no subject
[Ah, well, nothing she can do. She adjusts her glasses.]
But I definitely can't argue with you there. At least I can be useful in a situation like this.
no subject
[Carmelita grins, though, placing her hands on the back of her head easily.]
A crew though, huh...you in a guild, or something like that?
no subject
Something like that. The profile neglects to mention, but I'm the medic for a ship, specifically.
no subject
Shit, that right? Sounds pretty damn awesome if you ask me. What does your crew do, exactly?
wildcard
Regardless, two months here has meant that he's been forced into dealing with mortals far more than he'd really like. He'd told Zagreus that he prefers the underworld over the surface and the living, and that still holds true. It's so bright up here. Even at night, the city is still lit up brighter than even the fiery rivers of Asphodel. It's taken some getting used to. The mortals have as well; only one of them sees fit to constantly pester him, and Thanatos would be lying if he said he cared nothing for her presence at all.
The outskirts of the city are where he'll appear suddenly - heralded by the sound of a bell tolling and a brief glow of green.]
I trust you're prepared?
[Hey, Carmelita. As usual, Thanatos only carries his massive scythe with him, resting against his shoulder as he hovers above the ground, watching her.]

It's beautiful, really. So many new things to get used to, so many people to meet and listen in on the stories of...sure, it's certainly been a little odd to get used to the people here and seeing some of the outsiders more than she thought she would, but it is a little fun. Fomalhaut calls it 'friendship', from his limited understanding of humans. And yeah, maybe it is. Having friends is nice, especially when you can pester them whenever you want; Skull has proven that much, at least.
As it stands, though, Fomalhaut has finished taking the form that she wants him to today; a nice pair of gauntlets that slide easily over her hands, the dark sludge of the residing god having hardened considerably. It should be enough to get them through this little problem--
And there's the tell tale chime and that green glow.
Death approaches?
Fomalhaut speaks into Lita's mind, and she nods.]
Right on cue.
[Either way, hey there yourself, Thanatos. Carmelita turns easily with a grin on her face.]
Hey, Skull! More than prepared; just finished freshening up. [She's still all too casual after all this time, even as she looks at the scythe, smiling.] We'll see how these fuckers like getting a taste of their own medicine, right upside their heads.
If you're prepared, let's get going; we should be able to intercept the bastards if we act quick, yeah?
[Let's do this shit, she's pumped and ready to go.]

[It's an acknowledgement more than anything else; it never has been his place to decide where each of the souls of the departed go, and it isn't his place to judge them for their actions in life. Even if those actions are causing enough problems for the city to send someone after them... Well, it isn't anything he's going to think too much about right now. He's death, and while it may not be the same as it was back home, he is still prepared to take lives at a moment's notice.]
From what information I was able to gather, they are still located at the base we were directed to. It shouldn't take us long to get there.
[It's a bit too far out for him to safely teleport in; it's also an unfamiliar area, and he'd prefer not to land in the middle of the bandit camp. Plus, he can't exactly take Carmelita with him like that; who knows what it would do to a mortal even if he could bring her along?]
Let us be on our way, then.

[But, at any rate! Carmelita is more than excited to get this show on the road, and get it on the road they shall! They're gonna have a bit to go before they reach the bandit base, at least, and Lita is more than inclined to lead the charge; it'd probably make more sense for Thanatos to, considering his floating status, but she's never been one to take a back seat in anything, it seems.
Even as the terrain gets a little bit rough on their travels; the camp shouldn't be that much further away, but the brush of the trees and plantlife is making it a little harder to see than Lita would like, and her eyes narrow a bit.]
Huh...you see anything over there, Skull? We should be getting closer...
[Though, now that she thinks of it...]
...Shit, probably should be careful either way, though. Wouldn't be surprised if they laid out a few traps as a fucking welcome wagon.

I would be more surprised if they didn't have anything of the sort. I haven't seen anything yet, but that does not mean that they're ill-prepared.
[By now these mortals likely know how much trouble they've caused and how much danger they've put themselves in. They will be as prepared as they can be.
They only make it a little further before Thanatos holds out an arm to stop Carmelita.]
Look. Snare traps.
[They're a bit hard to see in the underbrush, but there are indeed bear traps set up. They seem to be placed at random, perhaps in the hopes that someone will stumble into them. It certainly doesn't look like they were left for hunting.]
Watch your step.

[Carmelita had been willing to nod at that, ready to keep going but--well, in the midst of her talking, she's stopped by an arm and looks down to the ground, and yikes.]
Well! [Don't worry, she's stopping.] Kind of a fucking lazy way to set this shit up, but I'll give 'em credit where it's due. This would probably catch quite a few people unaware.
[Hm, alright then, maybe a way to tackle this would be good...
You could ask your friend to scout on ahead. Fomalhaut speaks up mentally, and Lita's look briefly goes down to where the god resides in her chest...it's not a bad idea, but...]
Kinda wish I could float above all this shit like you do, right now. [Not that wishing is gonna help things.] But I just gotta be careful, yeah? And keep my eyes to the ground. You keep 'em to the air while we stick close. Sound good?
[She's not sure if they're gonna have company coming soon, but she wouldn't be surprised about that either.]
